About Us
Hayk Mendikyan, of Armenian-French descent from Constantinople, and Sasha Mendikyan, from Moscow, both moved to the United States over 35 years ago in search of new opportunities and to build a better life. As fate would have it, they crossed paths through mutual friends under the lights of Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, in 2002. Little did they know, this
serendipitous meeting would mark the
beginning of a beautiful chapter—a
romance that would blossom into a loving
family and a flourishing business. Together,
they combined their dreams and talents to
bring the enchanting flavors of France to
the heart of Huntington Village.

After tying the knot in 2004, Hayk decided
to open a business dedicated to his
grandmother’s delicious crepe recipes, as
there was nothing like it on Long Island at
the time. He began searching for a location and was drawn to Huntington Village for its unique blend of art, music, diverse cultures, and culinary experiences. He knew this was the right community to introduce something new.
They eventually found the perfect spot on New York Avenue. At the time, Sasha was five months pregnant with their first child, but that didn’t stop them. With money tight, they built the café themselves. Their determination soon paid off, and the Village Creperie Café became a beloved Huntington destination for 14 years. It was love at first taste!

In 2006, they began venturing beyond the café, catering both indoor and outdoor events as demand grew for something unique.

beyond the café and focus more on catering. In 2018—a bittersweet year—they sold the Village Creperie Café to begin the next chapter. That year, they officially launched their food truck, Crepes and Bakes. While saying goodbye to the café that started it all was difficult, the food truck allowed them to share their signature crepes across Long Island. From corporate and residential events to street festivals, Crepes and Bakes brings joy and flavor to every occasion. Their favorite event remains the Huntington Fall Festival.

“Huntington Village is one of the best, if not the best, communities on Long Island.”
— Hayk Mendikyan
The festival feels like a homecoming—a chance to reconnect with longtime friends and families from the village. Beyond business, Hayk and Sasha make time to give back. They actively participate in Huntington school fundraising events, Relay for Life, the Townwide Fund of Huntington Turkey Trot, and are proud members of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. Through these efforts, they support important causes and help strengthen their community.
Bringing the authentic taste of France to communities across the island gives them great joy—always ready to serve a fluffy bite of deliciousness. It’s crepe-elicious!

“We are the owners and the operators, so each and every crepe is made with our love and special touch—because it’s our life.”— Sasha Mendikyan
“I love the truck. There’s more freedom, more parties, and festivals—we get to reach more people.”— Hayk Mendikyan
In 2007, the couple moved to Huntington Village—not only to be closer to their business, but also to raise their children in a town they loved. In 2014, they purchased a used Nathan’s Hot Dog truck and began converting it into a crepe truck to expand
